AUDUBON’S AVIARY: The Original Watercolors for The Birds of America was written to reproduce and showcase the Historical Society of New York's entire collection of 474 watercolors done by John James Audubon.  These watercolors were the basis for his spectacular work The Birds of America (1827-1838).
